We here at Art Fortune wish we could cover everything going on in the art world. Oh how we wish that. However, we will make it a point to post some interesting topics, events, works of art, artist and anything art related. Here is an interesting link that we found describing some of the most fasinating street art. This form of art seems to be growing every where we look. <br />
<a href="http://www.bitrebels.com/design/76-unbelievable-street-and-wall-art-illusions/">http://www.bitrebels.com/design/76-unbelievable-street-and-wall-art-illusions/</a><br />
There is what I call dirty non-sense on street wall, floor, etc.. and great works of art where the man made space was very well used. Of course, everyone has their eye for art. And a picture/image is worth a million words. <br />

Can abstract expressionism be as high an art form as the portraits of Renaissance masters or the still-life paintings of the Dutch? While a common misconception is that abstract art is for artists that don't have the skill to paint otherwise. The reality is that it is a choice and a difficult one. To build up a painting day by day and yet maintain the brushstrokes or the colors that you initially liked is a true challenge. Sorry for all the hellos but I don't know if I get leave behind this simple greeting because it seems to add some formality that I feel is needed to get started. That being said, let's start looking at abstract art. I want to pose just a few questions and then tomorrow we can really look at some images. </div><div>The other day I had a dentist appointment with a man who is a very good dentist and a very horrible art appreciator. During the visit he both scoffed at <a href="http://www.picasso.fr/us/picasso_page_index.php">Picasso</a> and said "<a href="http://www.bobross.com/">Bob Ross</a> is very good." I'm not knocking Bob Ross, I grew up watching (and adoring) Bob Ross, but his work isn't in the same league as Picasso! </div><div><br /></div><div><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 220px; height: 284px;" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/70/Bob_at_Easel.jpg/220px-Bob_at_Easel.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></div><div>As a painter looking into abstract art I find this way of thinking sad. The lack of curiosity into what the brush strokes look like, how design and composition take the place of images we know. I understand that Picasso falls into the Cubist movement, but my poor dentist can only see something he can't understand. After this he then asked me, "Can it takes days to create an abstract painting?" I almost laughed, taken back by this blunt, but innocent, question. I responded that it can even take weeks or months; this seemed incomprehensible to him.</div><div>So what are your thoughts on abstract art? Is it an artless art or a treasure we should hold on to? The <a href="http://www.americanabstractartists.org/">American Abstract Artists</a> seem to think it's worth while. Next time I'll go over some more contemporary artists and hopefully we can get into some better discussion. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Make sure and follow us if you like what you see! In the spirit of this day I have been taking a look at horror art, something that I admittedly am not very familiar with. I love pieces with a lighter side to their inspiration, but for today let's take a look at the gruesome, ghoulish, and gory. </div><div><br /></div><div>The first artist is <a href="http://www.theartofhorror.com/">Eric Swartz</a> whose art just teems with discomfort and the fright of the slasher film. While viewing his drawings, paintings, and images for print I felt like I was viewing the old 50s horror film posters. Swartz's style is a fun homage to the entire genre.</div><div><br /></div><div>Another artist I stumbled upon was <a href="http://www.miamakila.com/">Mia Makila</a>. Her ingenuity and lighter palette seem to instill more fear in me. The ingenuity of the images as well as the juxtaposition of the light colors and dark nature work very well.</div><div><br /></div><div>Finally I ended with the Halloween artwork of <a href="http://chadsavage.com/artwork/halloween-art/">Chad Savage</a>. I enjoyed his overt use of the jack-o-lantern as well as the black and orange color motif. Though not something I would hang on my wall, Savage creates the world somewhat cliche but always enjoyable world of scary pumpkins.</div><div><br /></div><div>Love horror art and would like to educate me and others? This 2007 film follows Christopher Hawley about his Halloween evening as he receives an invitation to a murder party. Unknowingly, he falls into the trap of an overzealous lot of artists who wish to create the ultimate in art: murder. As one of the artist states, "His cause of death will read, ART!" </div><div>This fun thriller poses the question, what is art? There is some quirky banter between the artists revealing their secret fears, insecurities, and lies that they tell each other. There is also a good portrayal of what many sometimes perceive as the art type: crazy, frenetic, substance fueled, and overly sensitive. I enjoyed the movie's ingenuity and while I don't feel it gives a great picture of what an artist is, it's fun to see a horror film with that slant. Follow our forums to read about horror art or write if you have seen or end up watching this movie!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Make sure and follow us if you like what you see! Two police officers slowly approached the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts. They began talking with the night security guards. After a short time they were able to convince the security guards to let them in the museum. They then escorted the security guards to an area hidden from view and proceeded to hand cuff them.<br /><br />Over the next couple hours the “police” stole thirteen paints from the museum. These paintings are valued at over 500 million dollars. Some of the works they stole included one of Johannes Vermeer’s thirty-five known paintings titled The Concert. Others they took included three pieces by Rembrandt, including his only seascape The Storm on the Sea of Galilee. Also taken were a series of drawings by Edgar Degas, pieces by Manet and Flinck and two objects. These objects were a Chinese Ku and a finial from a a Napoleonic flag. Today nine of the empty frames still remaining hanging in the museum. Some people believe this to have been in Gardner’s will, but that is not true. .<br /><br />In the 90s people inclined to belief James Bulger a.k.a. Whitey had played a key role in the theft. This belief has been struck down, however, by members of the Bulger gang and the federal government’s prosecutors. Today it is believed the an IRA faction has the paintings but there remains no proof of this.<br /><br />The theft has been the subject of many items of popular culture. There was a 2005 documentary titled Stolen that focuses on the theft. The novel the Music Lesson by Katharine Weber discusses a possible explanation for the theft that involves the IRA. The theft inspired a 2010 novel by David Hosp titled Among Thieves. In Best Laid Plans by Sonny Douglass is a fictionalized version of the theft. In a The Simpsons episode titled American History X-cellent one of the stolen paintings is found in the possession of Mr. Burns.<br /><br />The museum is offering a reward of 5 million dollars for knowledge leading to the safe return of the paintings. This theft is considered the biggest art theft in history. If you have any knowledge of the whereabouts of the paintings please contact your local authorities or the nearest US Embassy.<br /><br />---<br /><br />Make sure and follow us if you like what you see! Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California. It is based around things that were discovered during the modern day restoration of drawings from the 1300s to the late 1800s. One thing they have discovered include a watermark from an 1500s paper mill that was used to date a drawing. Another thing they discovered was a previously unknown drawing by Bandinelli on the back of one of his other drawings that was used to sketch out one of his most famous sculptures.<br /><br />I urge you to check out the site <a href="http://www.getty.edu/art/exhibitions/secret_life_drawings/">here</a> and watch the video of one of the Getty Museum conservators restoring several pieces- it's amazing.<br /><br />It really is incredible and I have come to believe that restoring art is an art in itself. I hope I can make it over to LA to see the exhibit before it is finished.<br /><br /><br /><br />Make sure and follow us if you like what you see! Her name is Elizabeth Love, as if her last name did not make her interesting enough her blog and art are fabulous as well. She lives in New Zealand and has an exhibition going on until January 20, 2011 at a local gallery. I have always been a fan of mixed media and her art is full of color and has an edgy quality to it. I recommend you all check out her <a href="http://nzart-lizzie-l.blogspot.com/">blog</a>.<br /><br />Make sure and follow us if you like what you see! As I sat in Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan one sunny morning this past May, I got to enjoy a living sculpture called "Walk the Walk", a performance-installation created by Kate Gilmore and funded by the Public Art Fund. It was a cubic structure, open on all sides, with a flat roof that functioned as a podium. Working in shifts, groups of women took to the roof where they performed an improvisational choreography of everyday movement, such as walking, shuffling, and stomping. These women were not professional dancers nor actors. These women were to represent a random sample of female office workers. They varied in age, race and body type. They were free to perform their artist-assigned tasks as they choose, but they did have to conform to a strict uniform: yellow dress and beige shoes.</span></span></span></p><p class="bodycopy" style="font-style: normal; line-height: 24px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FFFFFF;">The public were welcomed to view the art from the outlying Fountain Terrace, but could also enter the structure on the main level which allowed me to hear the reverberating sounds of the movement above. The yellow of the women's dresses also appeared on both the inside and outside of the structure walls. Gilmore likes to consider this experience an "eccentric concerto of irregular footfalls".</span></span></span></p><p class="bodycopy" style="font-style: normal; line-height: 24px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FFFFFF;">Kate Gilmore is known for her physically demanding performance videos.Through "Walk the Walk", Gilmore has us wondering how gender, age and appearance affect our perception both socially and personally. </span></span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" line-height: 18px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FFFFFF;">I have to say I enjoyed a good hour mesmerized by the women creating their own path of different speeds, hardly ever even hitting to one another in such a small space. Equally enjoying was the public reaction to the piece, from the unnoticed, to the gawking glares, to the pure enjoyment of witnessing a re-enactment of office women today as art.</span></span></span></span></p><p class="bodycopy_sm" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; line-height: 18px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); "><br /></p></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://twi-ny.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/walkthewalk.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 550px; height: 412px;" src="http://twi-ny.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/walkthewalk.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Make sure and follow us if you like what you see!
